Dr. Lizbeth Holguin began her career as a Pediatric Dentist in 2006. During a Pediatric Dental conference in Hawaii, Dr. Lizbeth Holguin, DDS met with Dr. Rhea Haugseth, a Veteran Pediatric Dentist from Marietta, Georgia. Dr. Holguin was taken away by the discussion on a new program that Dr. Haugseth launched.
In this discussion, Dr. Haugseth shared her observations that in her 34 years of practicing, graduates of dental assistant schools seemed ill-equipped to work in the pediatric realm. She mentioned that they had the book experience, but not the clinical experience needed to deal with young patients. Dr. Haugseth shared her frustration with the lack of well-trained pediatric dental assistants that she could employ in her own practice.
These concerns led her to develop an intensive training program which assures that students will be highly trained and clinically competent as Pediatric Dental Assistants in nine to ten weeks. The program is called Pediatric Dental Assistant School, PDAS and is a specialized program specifically designed to train dental assistants seeking rewarding careers in pediatric dentistry.
In addition, Dr. Haugseth’s shared her commitment to growing the flagship location in Marietta, and her launch to lay out the foundation to open schools under this name in other large cities. It is through these similar views and as a result of this conversation that The El Paso Pediatric Dental Assistant School originated.
Dr. Holguin was ecstatic of the idea and related very much to Dr. Haugseth, Having the same concerns on the deficiency of experienced PDA’s in her own home town, it sparked a passion in Dr. Holguin, of fulfilling a similar goal.
Dr. Holguin decided to start up her own school License of PDAS located in El Paso, Texas, called the El Paso Pediatric Dental Assistant School. Dr. Holguin heads the school and wants to deliver up-to-date training to prepare proficient and skilled students for entry-level jobs in the Pediatric Dental Assisting field and dental field in general.
